eXergymachine-compact
The eXergiemaschine-compact is an exceptional, small heat pump system for optimizing existing or new heating systems in single and multi-family homes or small businesses.
The eXm-compact is connected to one or two heating buffer cylinders and provides a high temperature for heat consumers in the storage system.Â
It also ensures a cool return flow to the heat source and thus increases its efficiency - regardless of usage patterns or seasonal heating requirements.

How the temperature boost works with the eXergiemaschine-compact
The eXm-compact, developed jointly by varmeco and BMS-Energietechnik, creates an optimized temperature stratification in the heating buffer cylinder. For this purpose, a single-stage water-to-water heat pump operates inside the device, which is designed for a large temperature spread of around 50 K in the buffer cylinder and also works at source temperatures of 55 °C and above.
During operation, the eXm-compact draws water from the middle of the storage tank system. Part of it flows past the condenser of the eXm-compact, where it is heated before it reaches the upper, hot part of the storage tank. The other part passes over the machine's evaporator and directs the cooled water into the lower, cooler storage tank area.
Possible applications of the eXergy machine-compact
In a heating system with a heating heat pump, the eXm-compact creates dual benefits: On the one hand, it can raise the thermal energy supplied at a low temperature to a temperature level suitable for DHW heating and makes other reheaters superfluous.
The eXm-compact also cools the return flow to the heating heat pump, ensuring that the heat pump works at its optimum operating point and energy-intensive operating modes with a high outlet temperature can be avoided. This increases the seasonal performance factor of the overall system.
In apartment buildings with hot water circulation, the eXm-compact avoids unfavorable operating conditions in circulation mode, which would otherwise occur with low or no tapping. This is because the eXergy machine maintains the ideal temperature levels in the heating system even during long circulation phases. This means that the heat buffer storage tank rarely needs to be recharged.

As a supplement to a heating heat pump, the eXm-compact offers the possibility of providing the temperature required for hot water preparation and thus replaces inefficient reheaters.
The eXm-compact also optimizes the operating point of the heating heat pump and increases its efficiency.
The use of an eXm-compact results in a significant improvement in the system's annual coefficient of performance and therefore a considerable saving in primary energy.

In properties with a classic local or district heating connection, the eXm-compact ensures a cool return flow (here the eXm-compact is controlled with regard to the cooling effect of the return flow). This makes it possible to comply with the connection conditions specified by the local heat supplier even in times of low heating load and low hot water demand, and thus for the first time no longer dependent on the user.

In a local heating system with a low flow temperature, the eXm-compact can provide a temperature level suitable for hot water preparation, thus eliminating the need for energy-intensive reheaters such as burners or electric heating rods. The eXm-compact also provides the local heating network with defined return temperatures, thus ensuring ideal operating conditions for the heat generation systems.

In combination with solar thermal systems, the eXm-compact extends the range of applications by raising the solar heat provided at a low temperature to a higher, more usable temperature level during the transitional season. By simultaneously lowering the system temperatures in the return flow area, the eXm-compact increases the solar thermal yield, as the collectors can already supply energy at lower collector temperatures.
With combined solar and PV modules (hybrid module), the focus is on cooling the PV-T modules, which increases the electricity yield; at the same time, the otherwise hardly usable waste heat from the PV-T collectors (too low temperatures) is made usable by the eXm-compact and fossil fuels are substituted.

When using the eXm-compact in conjunction with waste heat from chillers, for example, the eXm-compact raises the waste heat available at a low temperature level to a higher level, e.g. to ensure hot water preparation. At the same time, the efficiency of the chillers increases due to the low recooling temperatures ensured.

Simple installation and operation
The eXergiemaschine-compact is designed for space-saving wall mounting and is connected to the buffer storage system via four hydraulic connections. Only a standard socket (230 V) is required for the power supply.
It works independently and does not require any intervention in the heat management control system.
Setting and operating the eXm-compact is easy thanks to the integrated controller with text display and four-button operation. The display provides information on the current operating status and guides users through the various setting options.
